Letters are done! I'm working on the suit emblems now. I figure when I get those done, I'll knock out the A-10 first and quick and then on to the face card grind.

Today I found a layout of the the entire font from the poster, so I pulled it into Illustrator and I traced the letters that I'll need (in red).
Oh! looks like I'll need the numbers, and letters O-E-R for the Jokers, too.

How fun are spreadsheets?!?

I'm organizing (I have gone Full-Gatsby) so I can put the faces in the right suits and have appropriate looks for each. Not sure what my work process on these will be when I put these into my own 'art' but here's a start.

Playing Cards 01

New project I've decided to task myself with. I'm going to design my own playing cards. Kind of a sucker for Art Deco, so that's the direction I'm going with it.

   

Face cards will be hat-centric, with appropriate silhouettes of the people. Actually might go full-Gatsby on this. Need to re-read the book, but the movie is still fresh in my mind, and there's plenty of imagery out there. Might drop the hats/crowns. I only like the Heart here so far, and I want to make the Diamond radially non-symmetrical. I've collected a ton of Deco assets to draw from, I'll add some Luhrmann to the mix. I've started using a pomodoro tehnique app on my phone, so this is something that i can just throw one of those segments at every once in a while.
